Sometimes All It Takes Is Having Access To The Right People.
A while back, Dustin Murphy shared a post about how his wife, Molly, had just run the NYC Marathon, her first world major. She was beyond excited about her performance and the opportunity she had experienced, but when they got home, Molly realized she had left her wedding rings on the desk in their hotel room. They called immediately and knew exactly where they were left, but the rings were never recovered.
They had just celebrated their 12th anniversary, and losing the rings really put a cloud over what should have been a great memory. It got to the point where even thinking about the marathon only reminded her of losing them.
Dustin’s post in The Moda Club was simply to see if someone could help him recreate the rings as closely as possible to the originals. All he had were a few pictures and a short video. But he knew if he could pull this off, the Marathon could feel like more of the milestone it was intended to be instead of the disappointment it had turned into.
Along comes David Truong from Mimi’s Jewelry. David reached out and worked closely with Dustin, went back and forth on details, and remade the rings using only those photo and video references. He even helped upgrade the center stone and add an additional band to the piece.
The rings were finished just six weeks after the marathon, with enough time for Dustin to have them wrapped and under the tree for Christmas. Molly was blown away when she opened them, and it completely changed how she remembers that trip.
Dustin’s willingness to ask, David’s willingness to help, and Molly’s excitement at the end are a great example of what happens when you’re surrounded by the right people. Or should we say, when you’re surrounded by Moda.
